Metal-Free Dentistry
In the best interest of your health and appearance, Dr. Marshall practices metal-free dentistry.
Today, for a variety of reasons, metal dentistry is obsolete -- even dangerous. Studies have shown that metal is detrimental to your teeth and gums. Metal fillings expand and contract with temperature changes. This movement can weaken and break the teeth. It can also create a space between the tooth wall and the filling, allowing bacteria to get under the filling, causing decay that your dentist can't see. Worse yet, poisons in mercury fillings may also leak, introducing toxins to your system.
Other restorations, such as the porcelain-to-metal crown, contain materials such as nickel or palladium. Gums around porcelain-to-metal crowns can become irritated and red, and are likely to bleed easily.
When restoring teeth, Dr. Marshall only uses strong, attractive and safe materials, including porcelain and tooth-colored resin.
Tooth-colored resin fillings are used for small cavities. Resin fillings can be made on-site and the cavity can be filled in only one office visit.
Inlays and Onlays are used in larger cavities. Inlays are placed inside the tooth; onlays fill inside the tooth, and cover the top or sides of the tooth. Both are made of porcelain and are custom-made by a state-of-the-art machine called CEREC and can be completed in just one visit!
Porcelain Crowns are used for more complicated restoration cases, such as a fractured tooth, a large cavity, an old, broken filling, or root canal. Also called caps, crowns are custom-made restorations that completely cover, restore and protect teeth. They provide enhanced strength, endurance and appearance.
Invisalign
Have you always wanted a straight smile, but didn't want to endure years of uncomfortable and unsightly metal braces? Then Invisalign is for you. Certified in Invisalign, Dr. Marshall can help you have the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted - without metal braces or brackets! Invisalign uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth, so you can smile during treatment as well as after! You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until you have the straight smile you've always wanted.
