Need a Reason to See Your Dentist? We Have Some!
- Posted on: Apr 30 2018
We could assume that just about every adult in our country has seen the dentist at some point in their life. What often happens is that dental care begins during early childhood. Decades ago, before modern techniques and advanced knowledge had been gained, many children’s first experiences with dentistry involved the need for restorative care. Children who require fillings, which means injections of local anesthetic and having a dentist “in their face,” often do not have great memories of their dental visits. This leads to an aversion to seeing the dentist for many adults. We’d like to change that.
There are a variety of reasons that could be given for missing dental appointments. Life is busy! That is actually one of the primary reasons we hear. But there is often something behind that. Dental care may not seem like a priority when all is well in the mouth. Dental care may seem intimidating when all is not well in the mouth. It’s a double-edged sword that needs to be locked up and thrown into the deepest ocean. Here, we want to discuss what you have to gain by seeing your Ardmore dentist on a routine basis.
Knowledge Equals Power Equals Peace of Mind
The more you know about your own oral health and the basic workings of dentistry, the more you can advocate for your personal oral health. We can get even more basic than that with the statement that what we tend to fear most is the unknown. Therefore, the more you know about your teeth and gums, and the more you know about your dentist, the more comfortable you can be when it comes time for your routine exam and cleaning.
We welcome your questions about how to care for your teeth and gums. We invite you to talk with us about your concerns, even those that relate to dentistry. Dental anxiety is not something to hide; it’s something to discuss so strategies can be developed to improve your visits to the office. We offer a selection of pain-free dentistry options, including NuCalm holistic stress-relief treatment, to make dental visits much more pleasant.
Dentistry has advanced significantly in recent years. If you haven’t seen the dentist in forever, you may be pleasantly surprised at how aspects of dental care, such as x-rays, have improved. In our Ardmore office, procedures are also performed with the use of The Wand, a modern delivery system to take the sting out of anesthetic injections.
