Do you have some minor defects in your smile but would rather not have porcelain veneers to correct them? Tooth bonding, also called dental bonding, is excellent for the correction of many dental defects.
The term “bonding” refers both to the procedure and to the resin material made from ceramic and plastic mixed with other components.
By applying this resin in layers over your natural tooth enamel, Dr. Marshall can use it to re-shape your teeth and create a more seamless smile line, improving the appearance of your teeth and strengthening them at the same time.
Cosmetic dentist Dr. Lindsey Marshall uses tooth bonding as a quick, simple and very effective way to correct:
If you notice changes in the appearance of your dental bonding, bonded teeth can often be effectively touched up.
A teeth bonding procedure is not unlike sculpting or pottery work done by an artist. Dr. Marshall applies the material in small increments, building up the right contours and depth. The first step is to slightly etch the tooth to give it a good bonding surface with tiny grooves to allow the bonding to attach strongly and permanently.
When the right amount of bonding has been applied, a curing light is used to harden it. Dr. Marshall will test your bite to make sure you are comfortable, then polish the restored tooth. It will match your natural teeth because bonding comes in an array of shades — a good match can be made for everyone.
You can have bonding done on one tooth or many, depending on your particular needs and preferences. It can be combined with other cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as replacing your old metal fillings with porcelain fillings or replacing one or more missing teeth with dental implants. Tooth bonding is often part of a smile makeover. The actual duration of your dental bonding procedure will depend on the extent of work necessary, but most tooth bonding treatments are completed in a single office visit.
Regardless of what dental issues you might have, Dr. Marshall can use her LVI training, up-to-date dentistry techniques, and our high-quality technology to transform your smile into one that you can be proud to show to the world.
As one of the simplest and most cost-effective cosmetic dentistry treatments available, tooth bonding is a valuable solution for many of our patients. Tooth bonding has both cosmetic and functional benefits for your smile and is often used as part of a larger smile makeover.
