Gum Recontouring

For some people, excess gum tissue may cause teeth to seem small or misshapen by covering too much of the tooth’s surface. This is what’s known as a “gummy smile.” Aesthetic gum problems can be embarrassing, compromising an otherwise beautiful smile. Thankfully, gum recontouring can address this problem and transform your appearance.

An uneven gum line can be the result of multiple factors. Genetics, age, and certain medical conditions and/or medications can cause gums to recede or “swallow” the tooth. Dr. Marshall uses a soft tissue laser to perform gum recontouring. This state-of-the-art laser allows us to trim your gumline in a sterile and precise manner, with very little discomfort. This process also protects the remaining gum tissue by cauterizing the gum lines, minimizing bleeding and preventing infection.

If you are tired of hiding your smile because of unsightly gums, our experienced Philadelphia dentist Dr. Lindsey Marshall can determine if gum recontouring is right for you. Some patients choose to combine gum recontouring with porcelain veneers to get their entire smile back on track.

Please contact Lindsey Marshall, DMD today to schedule your initial consultation with our Philadelphia dentistry team. We serve patients in Philadelphia, Ardmore, and Main Line, Pennsylvania.
